Who is Eller?
Steve Eller graduated from McDowell High School in 2004 and passed away in 2017.
In 31 years, he amassed an incredible amount of enduring friendships - many were formed through connections he made while participating in activities outside of school. When family and friends gathered to celebrate his life, it was clear the impact he made.
So much so that they created a fund to support students to provide
them with opportunities like he had to participate in activities and
give each an opportunity to make and build indelible friendships.
Who will the fund support?
Students attending any school in the Millcreek Township School District are eligible to apply for financial support to participate in a camp, club, sport, become a member of the YMCA, try a new activity, etc. and connect
with peers through out-of-school experiences.
Applications are accepted throughout the year.
In 2018, Eller's friends held a fundraiser for The Autism Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania raising nearly $14,000. Eller had a nephew with Autism and was committed to learning more about Autism in order to develop a relationship with his nephew.
"On July 7, 2024, it will have been 7 years since we lost Steve and 20 years since he graduated from McDowell. At his funeral, we were all amazed by how well he kept in touch with everyone. The people in his life were his most prized possessions and he was fortunate to meet many of them as just a kid, through sports, activities, and school."
We all want to pass those same friendships and memories on to the next generation in his honor and established a fund through the Millcreek Education Foundation. This fund will make extracurricular activities possible for students who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
Your support and contributions will enable us to provide Millcreek students opportunities to build life-long connections in memory of dear friend, Eller.
